“ God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us — Selah. 2 That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth. Selah. 5 Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. 6 The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us. 7 God blesses us, that all the ends of the earth may fear Him.” Psalm 67
Thanksgiving is a time to truly praise the Lord for his blessings. It is a time to strengthen relationships we share and to reach out to others. God’s blessings to us is not only for our own benefit, but He wants us to share and pass along the good gifts He brings our way.
Reaching out to others displays a powerful testimony of thankfulness in our own lives. By sharing, it reflects the heart of God. When we reach out to others, we offer a glimpse of what it means to be invited to join the family of God; to be embraced by a heavenly Father forever.
Thankful people see blessings beyond their burdens and trials. They see life through God’s promises.
His purposes have been fulfilled through Jesus Christ. With Christ, there’s hope. Hebrews 6:19 speaks of hope when it says, “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and steadfast, . . .” Let the storms rage — for my Anchor holds. Faith believes, but hope expects.
What blessings has God brought your way? Helen Keller once said, “I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life. It would make him more appreciative of sight and the joys of sound.”
We should be grateful to God for all things.
Ephesians 5:20 – “always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father”
Colossians 3:17 – “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”
We should thank God in anticipation of His answering our prayers
Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Knowing that His answers will always be in accord with His perfect will for our lives
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Whatever your blessings may be, He wants you to share His good gifts with the people around you. Think of someone right now who might be open to receiving the blessing of eternal life, and then pass it along!
